Watch Now: ‘Black Metal’ Short Film Available Online For A Limited Time
  |

For a limited time, the filmmakers of short movie Black Metal have made it available for viewing online for free – until January 27. So, while you have the chance, grease up your face with death paint, throw up the horns, and check it out for yourself here at the bottom of this post.

While the metal community will undoubtedly be drawn to the short film, the emotional content of the snapshot into the life of a Black Metal vocalist (Jonny Mars) following an event causing turmoil is sure to resonate with viewers who are not really fans of metal. The content that the filmmakers zone in on revolves around controversies that critics of metal obsess over, and that is the influence of the genre on young people.

I have my own sentiments on this, but this short film encapsulates a darker moment that is perhaps comparable to both the Judas Priest subliminal messages court case, and Marilyn Manson being labeled scapegoat during the Columbine aftermath.

The film, written, and directed by Kat Candler and Jonny Mars, is due to have its theatrical premiere at Sundance this month, and features the appearance of Texas dark metal band, Vesperian Sorrow, fulfilling the role of the short’s main band, Crown of Horns.

The short has a lot of impression emotionally and resonates strongly with elements that have permeated and affected the metal community for decades. Unlike previous ventures into making films that include metal, this is no misrepresentation or cheesy parody of the scene – this is a dead set emotional flick, with serious aspects – and is yet, still metal as fuck.

Embedded below for your eyeballs – horns and hails!
