Wait, What? Fox To Redo ‘Hitman’ Movie With Paul Walker As Agent 47

2007’s Hitman was not a very good movie, for a number of reasons. But instead of moving forward on a sequel to the movie, as was in the works for a long while, Fox has instead decided that they’re going to reboot and start over. No objections here!

But wait, there is most certainly more. Hopes for a better adaptation of the popular game series will be instantly put to the test by word that Paul Walker, star of the Fast and Furious franchise and Into the Blue, will be playing Agent 47 this time around, and that the movie itself will be titled Agent 47 as well.

The movie is set to be directed by Aleksander Bach, who’s jumping from commercials into his debut feature, and a script has already been written by Skip Woods, who wrote the first Hitman as well as movies like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The A-Team, and the upcoming A Good Day to Die Hard, and Mike Finch.

The hope is with the popularity of the game series and the face of Walker, the studio can make lots of money, mostly overseas.

As a fan of the video games, the first movie never sat well with me. Even star Timothy Olyphant (who I’m a fan of) didn’t feel at all right as the iconic video game character come to life. The only thing the movie got right was its R-rating (props where due).

At first glance at this news I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Paul Walker as 47? No, no, no. The thought of him walking around, bald-headed and wearing 47’s suit, gave me a migraine that the bard’s will sing songs of thousands of years from now. Going to look at pictures of Walker, however, I was quite surprised to see that, with the proper hair and tan removal, he could actually resemble 47 slightly. He’s still far too young, but he looks closer than Olyphant did at least.

To be fair, it’s not easy to think of an actor who feels like he’d be perfect for 47. You don’t need to be the best actor in the world for this part, as the character does not have a wide range of emotions, but in the end Walker is just too damn…pretty. And again, too young. On top of all of that, there’s the voice. 47’s voice (heard below) is haunting, emotionless, and a very important component to the character. Neither Olyphant or Walker sounds anything like him. It’s really a shame that David Bateson, who is Agent 47 in both look and voice, isn’t a big superstar who could anchor a major movie.

It’s also unfortunate that they already have a director locked up, as this already feels like a straight-to-video job perfect for a one Mr. Uwe Boll.

What do you think of Paul Walker as Agent 47, Hitman fans?
