Bryan Singer To Shoot ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ In Native 3D
  |  @   |

The X-Men film franchise has been through sequels, prequels, and spinoffs. It is quite a collection of films that has somehow managed to stay within its own continuity – despite some errors in the canon. Bryan Singer oversaw the direction of the first two X-Men films and executive produced the prequel X-Men: First Class. But when it was announced that Matthew Vaughn was unable to direct the next installment, Days of Future Past, Singer came back.

Now the director is announcing the film’s newest direction – it will be shot in native 3D.

This is pretty exciting news given the heavy criticism that converted 3D films get.

Singer told CinemaBlend:

I’ll probably use some of the motion-capture technology for certain things [in Days of Future Past]. And of course the 3D technology. I’ll be shooting native stereo on X-Men.

While we know who is reprising their roles from past X-Men installments, we still do not know if Halle Berry will return as Storm, but as the film gets closer to lensing, it’s becoming more unlikely. Singer did reveal that President Nixon will be a character in the film, but did not say if someone will portray him or if they will use stock footage – the same way that John F. Kennedy was seen in First Class.

Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, and Shawn Ashmore all return to reprise their roles from the first trilogy, while James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence reprise their roles from the First Class installment. X-Men: Days of Future Past will hit theaters on July 18, 2014.
