Telltale Games Teases More ‘Walking Dead’ Content To Bridge Episode 5 To Season 2

Telltale's The Walking Dead Image

Telltale Games’ five episode point-and-click version of The Walking Dead was one of the very best video games of 2012, with one of the best video game characters/relationships in any game. Ever. If you’ve not yet played it—and even if you never touch video games but are a Walking Dead fan—find a way to play this one immediately (Xbox 360, PS3, PC).

Because of how popular the game was, fans are already buzzing with excitement over a season two that’s currently in the early stages of development. But as you know, “early stages of development” translates out to “excruciatingly long wait ahead.”

But it appears that Telltale doesn’t want that painful wait to be quite so painful, and may have a little something in store for fans much earlier.

Speaking to IGN‘s Up at Noon, Telltale writer and consultant Gary Whitta confirmed a second season of the game is on the way, and that something else may be coming sooner:

I can tell you what you already know, which is season two is coming. There’s not much to say because it really is very early”¦it’s a way off. But, knowing that it’s a way off, and knowing that people are hungry for more Walking Dead”¦there may very well be more Walking Dead from Telltale before season two.

Whitta also later elaborated that it would be something that could be played, leading to the assumption that some kind of DLC content or bonus episode could be on the way that could bridge the end of episode five of the first season of the game to the upcoming second season.

Whitta and Telltale Games founder Dan Connors are hosting a game writing panel at the upcoming SXSW Interactive in March, and more info could possibly (hopefully) be shared there.

What would you say to a little bonus Walking Dead content from Telltale to you hold you over until they release season two of the game?

  1. TWD would make an amazing Vita port. Also, it’s on iPhone/iPad as well.

  2. I think Telltale is an amazing company, and I absolutely love their TWD game adaptation (who doesn’t?). I just think Telltale should swallow their pride and port this wonderful game to Android. I have owned iDevices and I highly prefer mid-ranged Android products to the most advanced mobile apple device. Performance isn’t anymore of an issue with varied hardware than those which exist with PC, and the same goes for piracy issues. Piracy is just as available, simple, and well-marketed on iDevices as on Android and PC. Android is simply just another market to open up, a doorway to please more customers and make more money. Just DO it.
