Loki Whisky Is The Second In Highland Park’s Limited-Edition Valhalla Collection
  |  @   |

Last year, we brought to your attention Thor Whisky, the first in Highland Park’s Single Malt Scotch Whisky Valhalla Collection.

Next week, Highland Park will release the second in their series: Loki.

As you can see from the image of the product here below, the Loki whisky bottle will be housed in the same wooden frame its big brother’s bottle was. This is the second of four limited-edition whiskies that will make up the Valhalla collection. Two more titles, the names of which have yet to be revealed, will be released in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Below is Highland Park’s description of this limited-edition Loki whisky, which will be available starting next week at select retailers, as well as the Highland Park website, and will retail for $249.

Nose: A spirited lift of dried bitter orange which quickly turns into lemon peels. Cardamom notes trick then tease the nose, before an enticing hit of gingerbread develops. With a touch of water, licorice and aromatic smoke are both unleashed.

Palate: The true shape-shifting ability of Loki springs to life on the palate: its waxy texture is amplified by an intense smoke that doesn’t appear on the nose, shattering the light citrusy illusion of the aroma. All is not what it seems. The smoke fades as licorice and rich spiced apple flavors come out to play. Lemon and grapefruit are consistent throughout this elusive, yet intriguing character. With a touch of water, lingering notes of melted dark chocolate over spent embers leave a soft, smoky impression.

Finish: As Loki departs, he leaves behind toasted cloves, hickory smoke and soft vanilla. It is constantly changing, from appearance to finish. Loki is an enigma and truly another whisky of the gods.

Last year, some of us here at GoD Headquarters got to sample the Thor whisky, and we can tell you that if the theme and packaging isn’t enough to draw you in, the flavor certainly will. The Thor whisky is still available through Highland Park’s online shop.
