IDW Limited Offers ‘G.I. Joe: The Complete Collection’
  |  @   |

I love what IDW has done with the G.I. Joe property since taking it over a few years ago, from their new series to their efforts to reprint the original Marvel series. IDW has already published a nice line of trade paperbacks collecting that original series, and now they are starting a line of limited edition oversized hardcovers collecting the series.

G.I. Joe: The Complete Collection Vol. 1 ships in May and will collect the first twelve issues of G.I. Joe along with a bonus feature titled “Hot Potato,” all written by Larry Hama with art by Herb Trimpe. So, if you’re a Joe fan who is fired up this weekend because of the new movie and looking to spend a good wad of cash, IDW has just the thing for you.

There will be two different versions available: the Red label version will cost $125.00 and is limited to hand numbered 250 copies, signed by Hama and Trimpe. The Black Label version will set you back $300 and is limited to 25 copies, also hand numbered. This version has the same issues, but comes with a full color illustration drawn by Trimpe.

Here’s what Trimpe had to say:

“G.I. JOE is a book that’s close to my heart. It’s great to see how IDW’s handled the title. Their run’s been excellent, and when they decided to launch this limited line collecting the early work that we all worked so hard on, I was thrilled to be chosen to provide art for this special edition. G.I. JOE is a timeless tradition, and drawing these pieces took me back to a different time, when I was a fan and artist who loved these characters deeply.”

You can pre-order either edition now on IDW’s webpage. And don’t worry if you’re a fan of IDW’s other G.I. Joe series, as they also say they will have similar hardcover collections of G.I. Joe: Cobra, Danger Girl/G.I. Joe, and G.I. Joe: IDW Collection coming.
