Marvel Previews Phase Two Line-Up With More Concept Art and Our First Look At ‘Ant-Man’
  |

On Tuesday Disney released the mammoth, 10-disc Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled Blu-ray set containing all six of Marvel Studio’s first blockbuster superhero adventures and a host of exclusive bonus features. The set also came with a special code that buyers could enter at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Mainframe website and view a video preview prepared by Marvel that offers some tantalizing glimpses at their upcoming Phase Two movies Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, and their first Phase Three movie Ant-Man.

Last night some enterprising individuals posted the video online but Marvel and Disney quickly exercised their legal superpowers and had it pulled. Fortunately for us they were not able to pull down a host of still images from the preview that survived. Some of them we posted yesterday before we knew for sure they were legit, but now we have a ton more to share with you.

You can check them all out here below.

Let’s start with a selection of behind-the-scenes images from Thor: The Dark World, the next Marvel movie out of the gate following Iron Man 3. Nothing too exciting in this pics but it’s nice to see friendly faces like Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman back on the scene, with some heavy battle taking place on Asgard and the God of Thunder getting to pay Earth a little visit at some point in the story.

Next up are of concept art images from Guardians of the Galaxy: a spaceship and Rocket Raccoon. Basically nothing we did not already know was appearing in the movie. Nice art though. I wonder if Rocket Raccoon went into his room only to find Gideon’s Bible.

Getting to the good stuff now. Here we have some cool concept artwork from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, including several shots of Cap in action, the Winter Soldier looking menacing, and our first glimpse at what the Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie) will look like in flight.

Now we come to the part of the article that I looked forward the most to writing. Here we have a trio of screenshots from Edgar Wright‘s Ant-Man test reel that was screened at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Wright is still up for directing the movie from a script he co-wrote with Attack the Block director Joe Cornish. The final suit design will likely change somewhat but I really like the direction Wright is going in with his take on the classic Marvel hero no one ever thought would be headlining their own motion picture. And let’s not ignore the fact that Wright has yet to make a movie that is any less than totally epic and awesome. This guy is just made for the Marvel Movie Universe.

Sadly we get nothing regarding The Avengers 2, but seeing as how that movie is still in the embryonic stage at this juncture it hardly comes as a surprise. We all know it is happening and there is a 99% chance it will be undeniably amazing.

Thor: The Dark World opens on November 8, 2013. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be released on April 4, 2014. Guardians of the Galaxy arrives on August 1, 2014. Finally Marvel launches Phase Three with the November 6, 2015 release of Ant-Man.

  1. Will those movies be in IMAX 3D because Marvel and LucasFilm with Disney will deserve IMAX earnings for five years?
