Benedict Cumberbatch, the star of movies like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness, and the hit BBC series Sherlock, is the latest to be cast in director Guillermo del Toro‘s haunted house movie, Crimson Peak.
Cumberbatch joins The Amazing Spider-Man and Zombieland star Emma Stone, who was the first casting back in January, as well as Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim star Charlie Hunnam, who was announced a short time after Stone.
The movie will be the next project for del Toro, who’s best known for titles like The Devils Backbone, Pan’s Labyrinth, and the Hellboy movies, after things are all wrapped up on Pacific Rim.
Details on Crimson Peak are being kept a secret, but the movie is said to be a Gothic horror about a woman whose husband may not be who he appears to be. It’s safe to assume that Stone will be playing the woman, but it’s not yet known who the two gentlemen will be playing.
Production on the movie is currently scheduled to begin in February 2014, and no official release date has been set yet.
