Disney Acquires Pitch For ‘Labyrinth’ Remake… But Not Really
  |  @   |

Disney has acquired a pitch for a new movie titled Labyrinth, an action/adventure story that follows a mythical princess as she enters a complex and dangerous labyrinth in hopes of finding and saving her father.

Upon first reading this description it’s quite difficult not to immediately picture the 1986 Jim Henson movie of the same name, which followed a young girl as she enters a complex and dangerous labyrinth in hopes of finding and rescuing her baby brother. But no indication is given that this new movie, which was pitched by Black List screenwriter Larry Brenner, is actually a remake, despite how similar it sounds.

Interestingly enough, however, Henson’s Labyrinth was also a Lucasfilm movie. And of course, Disney now owns Lucasfilm. So it will be very interesting to see how exactly this one plays out.

What do you think? Is this a remake, or just a similar project?

  4. No, god, no. There is no way that they can ever replace Labyrinth. If they dare to implement Jareth in there……. There’s no one that can replace David Bowie as that role.

  5. Either way, David Bowie won’t be in it!
