2013 MTV Movie Awards: The Winners

The 2013 MTV Movie Awards was broadcast live on MTV tonight from the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City, CA, and as usual for this awards ceremony, it brought out some of today’s hottest stars, as well as debuted new footage from the year’s most highly anticipated films.

This year’s show, which was hosted Rebel Wilson of Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect, featured exclusive footage from Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness, along with a 2 1/2-minute full trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, introduced by the film’s star Liam Hemsworth.

The Avengers and Silver Linings Playbook snagged three golden popcorns each, while stars Brad Pitt, Peter Dinklage, Steve Carell, Melissa McCarthy, Zac Efron, Kerry Washington, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Amanda Seyfried, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, and Zachary Quinto were on hand to present the awards for the night.

Avengers stars Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Evans, and Tom Hiddleton, along with director Joss Whedon, accepted the award. “I’m happy to be Hulk-smashed any day of the week,” said Tom Hiddleton. Whedon thanked everyone, stating that this win was “unexpected.”

Trailblazer Award – Emma Watson

Emma Watson’s costars Eddie Redmayne (My Week With Marilyn) and Logan Lerman (Perks of Being A Wallflower) came out to honor the Harry Potter actress, while Jonah Hill sent a video message, joking about how he and Watson had been cast in the lead roles of the big-screen adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. A video montage was shown of Watson’s films before the actress took the stage to accept the award.

Comedic Genius Award – Will Ferrell

Game Of Thrones star Peter Dinklage was there to present the Comedic Genius Award to Will Ferrell. A montage reel of Ferrell’s work was shown before the actor took the stage and was his usual insane self, later bringing up an Asian family to pose as his wife and children.

Generation Award – Jamie Foxx

To Jamie Foxx was presented the Generation Award by his Django Unchained co-star Kerry Washington and talked about how people had told him that he wouldn’t be able to act, director, and do music in his career, but he’s proven them wrong. He also talked a bit about his daughter, who he brought with his to the ceremony.

  1. Man was this a crappy awards show. Not at all entertaining & half the awards are bs. Best shirtless performance, seriously? Emma Watson a trailblazer? In what way? What has she done that blazed a trail, what paths did she open up for other actresses to follow? I can’t think of any. She seems like a lovely person but she doesn’t deserve an award for trailblazing. She blazed no trail.
