There’s been plenty of news lately for those interested in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, including the castings of Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and of course, Master Splinter.
Now comes word that William Fichtner, the star of movies like Armageddon, Black Hawk Down, The Dark Knight, and Disney’s upcoming Lone Ranger, is also joining the cast.
Unfortunately, it’s not yet known who Fitchner is playing in the movie. The only hint we have is that it’s “a lead with iconic stature in the Turtles‘ mythology.”
The best guess is Shredder, the infamous villain and top Ninja Turtle nemesis. This would be bittersweet, however, as Shredder is of Japanese origins, and that would be hard to overlook, even with how awesome William Fitchner is.
If he’s not playing Shredder, who else might he be playing? Could it be another villain, such as Krang? Or could it be an ally, like Casey Jones?

I had heard something about him possibly being Baxter Stockman.
