Emma Stone was the first to be cast in Guillermo del Toro‘s next project after Pacific Rim, titled Crimson Peak. Unfortunately the actress was forced to depart the movie due to scheduling conflicts.
Now comes word of the actress that may replace her. It’s being reported that Alice in Wonderland and Stoker star Mia Wasikowska has entered into talks to replace Stone, so long as her reps can make sure that her schedule won’t also cause problems.
Wasikowska would play a young author named Edith Cushing who discovers that her husband is not who he appears. She’d also join a great cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Jessica Chastain, and Charlie Hunnam.
Del Toro wrote the screenplay for the haunted house thriller with Matthew Robbins and Lucinda Coxon. If all goes according to plan Crimson Peak will begin shooting sometime in February of 2014.
