Whether you want it to or not, Taken 3 is happening. Taken brought in an impressive $226 million on only a $25 million budget, while Taken 2 landed $376 million on a $45 million budget. Another movie was simply inevitable…so long as the particular set of talents possessed by Liam Neeson could once again be secured.
The actor is said to have been reluctant to return for the second installment of the action franchise, which began with Neeson heading to France to find his kidnapped daughter. But everyone has a price, and a $15 million pay day was too much to decline. Meaning in order to reacquire the actor for a third go of it, a pay raise would be necessary.
According to sources, Neeson will be paid around $20 million to return for Taken 3, and the hope is to begin filming sometime in February.
Now word yet on what the trilogy-maker will be about, but it’s safe to assume that someone, at some point, will be taken against their will.
Now the attention will shift to signing other actors to reprise their roles from the previous two movies, as well as a director, who could very well be Taken 2 director Olivier Megaton once again.
