New Line Already Working On ‘The Conjuring’ Sequel
  |  @   |

James Wan‘s The Conjuring, which opens this weekend, is based on one of Ed and Lorianne Warren’s case files. If their names don’t ring a bell, then you might have watched a movie based on one of their previous cases: The Amityville Horror or The Haunting In Connecticut. I caught an advanced screening of the film during the LA Film Festival and have nothing but nice things to say about it.

So it comes as no surprise that all that positive word of mouth has convinced Warner Brothers to move forward with a sequel.

Hit the jump for more.

Minor spoiler alert, but there are a couple scenes in the movie that teases at the possibility of sequels maybe even a franchise. During the press junket, film star Patrick Wilson was more than happy to talk about the potential of reprising his role ad Ed Warren:

“I don’t know who else would play him now. [Laughs] Vera and I wouldn’t have signed on for one not knowing that they didn’t want to do more. That’s just the nature of the beast.”

Variety reports that WB’s New Line Cinema is already in the early pre-production phases for a sequel. No word yet on which cases it might involve or if it will be a remake of The Amityville Horror or The Haunting In Connecticut. But that one scene I mentioned earlier provides more than enough material to work with.

Wan is unlikely to return as director seeing that he is busy working on the Fast and Furious 7 for Universal. But it does look like Wilson and Vera Farmiga are signed on for at least one more.
