The Chronicles of Conan, Vol. 24 continues Dark Horse Comics’ excellent reprint series of the Marvel Comics’ Conan the Barbarian series. If you’re into Conan or the sword and sorcery genre at all, this is a must have for your collection!

Authors James Owsley and Don Kraar turn in some great Conan stories here. First and foremost is the great “Bride of the Occultist” by Owsley, a particularly fun/creepy Conan story. From there the book reprints other great issues of Conan from the mid ’80s like “Blood Dawn,” “The Crimson Brotherhood,” and “Rites of Inquisition,” just to name a few. For those of you that only know Conan through the Dark Horse series, you’re in for a real treat. These stories weren’t as tightly managed by the licensor and therefore, there’s a lot more room that they have to play around. Not having to stick to a particular timeline for Conan’s life offers up a LOT more freedom to do as they please, and it certainly shows.

When it comes to artists, these are are LEGENDARY!! I mean, you’ve got John Buscema, Ernie Chan, and Mike Docherty here!!! And, this is when they were in their prime. Let’s face it, NO ONE does Conan better than Big John, and nobody probably ever will. Add to that Ernie Chan and Mike Docherty and you’ve got one book that is pure candy for your eyes. Extremely detailed, and filled with out of this world scenery, creatures, and characters.

I can’t recommend this collection highly enough. It’s got everything. All masterfully restored thanks to the great team over at Dark Horse. If you haven’t all ready, go grab this one up! NOW!!!!
