Comic-Con Poster For ‘The Crow’ Reboot By Creator James O’Barr
  |  @   |

The folks over at Shock Till You Drop have debuted a Comic-Con exclusive teaser poster for Javier Gutierrez‘s reboot of Alex Proyas’ 1994 film The Crow. The poster features the art of James O’Barr, creator of 1989’s The Crow comic book.

Check out the poster here below.

As the poster declares, The Crow will begin shooting in 2014.

During the convention, STYD had a chance to speak to Gutierrez, who is directing the reboot for Relativity, and O’Barr, who reportedly recently came onto the project as a creative consultant. O’Barr’s involvement is definitely a good sign, considering how long the project has been in development hell. (You can look back in our archives to see how many directors, writers, and studios its been through already, as well as lawsuits and possible lead actors).

O’Barr originally had been strongly against a reboot, but said it was Gutierrez who changed his mind and led to him becoming actively involved.

Brandon [Lee, star of the original film] was a friend and I’d never do anything that hinted at betrayal. But what Javier told me was that he wanted to go back to the source material. Be as faithful as possible which would make it something entirely different. Proyas’ film is stunning and stylized. I mean that in a good way. Nothing negative about it. Going back to the original book and keeping it grounded and realistic and dirty and gritty, it really appealed to me. Even so much as to carrying over the visual metaphors like horses and trains – where the street signs always say No Exit or One Way. Exploring it with a different attitude appealed to me.

Welsh actor Luke Evans will play Eric Draven, aka, The Crow. Evans has become a familiar face thanks to recent roles in The Raven, Immortals, and Fast & Furious 6 and will next be seen as Bard the Bowman in the upcoming Hobbit films.
