Director Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) made a surprise visit to San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday at the WB/Legendary Pictures panel in Hall H to promote the much anticipated Warcraft, the film based on the massively popular Blizzard MMORPG game, World Of Warcraft.
Footage, which lasted for roughly two minutes, was shown, though this was not a clip from the actual film. Rather, it was meant to capture the feel of the movie, since there is still a lot of work to be done on the project (Jones only came on as director in January). Check out the footage description here below.
Jones said that they plan to start shooting early 2014, and that they are busy working on preproduction for the film. Fans at home can send in their questions on the movie by going to the Legendary Films Facebook page or by sending questions on Twitter using the hashtag #askWarcraft.
This is just the first thing to be shown, so expect to see plenty more as shooting starts, but fans should be excited that the Warcraft movie is actually happening.
Legendary expects to release Warcraft sometime in 2015.
A clip was shown of a live-action scene of an unnamed human in a sprawling desert landscape, close up on his face as he squeezes out the last drops of water from a canteen. Then flash on his long sword gleaming in the sunlight by his side. The camera pulls out to reveal the skeletal corpse of a warrior a few yards in front of the human, partially obscured by a tall shield. It’s an Alliance faction shield. The human takes the shield off of the corpse and makes ready for a fight. The camera pulls away to reveal a burly green arm and shoulder, a huge warhammer in hand. The two warriors tense up, then ultimately charge across the desert toward each other.
