Legendary composer John Williams, who is responsible for the memorable music of the Star Wars film saga, will return to score Star Wars: Episode VII, according to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, who announced the news today at Star Wars Celebration in Germany.

Right after the announcement, the official Star Wars site posted a video interview with Williams on returning to the fold to work on the highly anticipate new Star Wars feature film, where he says he feels like he’s “never really left the galaxy far, far away.” While he hasn’t seen the script yet nor does he know what the story will be, Williams assumes that there will be themes from the previous movies he can draw upon.

Williams scored all six previous Star Wars feature films, creating some of the most iconic and recognizable music in film history, like the opening scroll “Main Title” piece for the original Star Wars (A New Hope) and the ominous “Imperial March.” The composer won an Academy Award for the first Star Wars, as well as for Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Schindler’s List and had many nominations for other films (Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Saving Private Ryan, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone).

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams (Star Trek), who back in April said he thought Williams would be doing the score, though people speculated that it might be someone like Michael Giacchino, who did the music for Abrams’ two Star Trek films.

Original trilogy stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill are expected to return for Star Wars: Episode VII, which is scheduled for release in the Summer for 2015.
