Recently we found out via a tweet by Sylvester Stallone that Bruce Willis was out of The Expendables 3, and that Star Wars and and Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford would be replacing him.
Stallone followed up his announcement with another tweet, one that declared that greed and laziness were quick ways to destroy your career. But no one knew for sure if that was aimed at Willis or someone else.
Now, if a new report is accurate, it appears that that tweet was indeed aimed at Willis, and for good reason.
A source close to the situation has revealed that Willis was seeking $4 million for four consecutive days of filming in Bulgaria (and you thought your job was brutal!), and that he’d walk if he didn’t get it. He didn’t get it, and as promised, he walked. But here’s the kicker: the actor WAS offered $3 million for the four consecutive days of filming, but that clearly was not enough.
When Willis demanded the extra million, Stallone and everyone else involved said no. Then casting Ford to replace him so quickly was just a no B.S. move to prove they weren’t having any of that nonsense. As the source puts it:
“I think [Willis] was pretty surprised he was replaced in 72 hours by Harrison Ford “” a better actor, a much nicer person and a more interesting direction for the film.”
It’s still unclear if Ford is actually playing the same character Willis did, or if they’re just replacing the Willis star power with Ford’s. Either way it will be interesting to see how they work it out, and few are going to complain about Harrison Ford now being involved.
What do you think about Willis’s demand for $1 million per day to do four consecutive days of filming on The Expendables 3?
