Watch Now: 600 Whovians Sing The ‘Doctor Who’ Theme Song
Thursday, August 8th, 2013 at 12:00 pm
It’s been a whirlwind of a few weeks for Doctor Who fans. Just this past weekend, we learned that Peter Capaldi is the next Doctor; and before that, there was the 50th Anniversary Panel at Comic-Con in San Diego last month.
While there, a gathering of 600 people got together for the 50th Anniversary Fan Gathering, and BBC America decided to film them all singing the theme song – you can check the video out below.
The next few months will prove to be a big lead up to the 50th Anniversary Special for the fans. And in addition to the feature-length special containing the return of David Tennant, there is also the biopic special An Adventure In Space And Time focusing on the inception of the show in 1963.
In the meantime, word has it that Steven Moffat and the BBC are hard at work in planning and writing for Doctor Who Series 8, set for 2014 – with filming for the Christmas Special to begin sometime soon. On the rumors front, there are rumblings that John Hurt may come face-to-face with Peter Capaldi’s Doctor at some point, and that old chestnut about Benedict Cumberbatch playing the Master is making the rounds again (though I doubt this is true).
Doctor Who is set to return in November with the 50th Anniversary Special, followed by the annual Christmas Special in December. Both will be featured on BBC One and BBC America.
While you wait though (and after you’ve checked out the video below), you can also catch up on other Doctor Who news by listening to the TARDISblend podcast, right here at Geeks of Doom
