The first trailer for Paul Greengrass‘s Captain Phillips only focused on the moment Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks) and his ship, the Maersk Alabama, was hijacked by Somali pirates in 2009. It was a great teaser at best, and now the full trailer shows us that this film will be much more than your average hijacking/hostage film, there are larger issues at stake for all characters in play. When all of this is backed by intense themes, and a powerful score, it makes for a great time at the movies. Hit the jump to see the second trailer for Captain Phillips.
Sony Pictures, in conjunction with 20th Century Fox, will release Captain Phillips into theaters on October 11.
