Matt Damon Cast In Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’; Preps For Directorial Debut
  |  @   |

Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar has a stellar cast that is comprised of Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, Casey Affleck, Topher Grace, Ellen Burstyn, and Michael Caine.

Now you can add Matt Damon to that cast. The Playlist reports that the actor has signed on for a very small role in the film. In fact it is so small that he will only be on set for two weeks out of the four month shoot. The film centers on a group of space explorers who utilizes a newly discovered wormhole to stream across vast distances in an instant. Like almost of the roles in Interstellar, Damon’s role in the film is being kept under wraps.

After a scheduling set back on A Promised Land forced Damon to hand his directorial duties to Gus Van Sant, the actor is now also preparing to try to make his directorial debut once more. In the same report, Damon is attached to direct The Foreigner, a drama written by Argo scribe Chris Terri. The script is based on a true story written about in a New Yorker article titled “A Murder Foretold,” which is about “a man who is gunned down in the escalating violence in Guatemala, and leaves behind a videotape after his death implicating the president, his wife, and other close aides in his killing. Of course, this rocked the nation, with a special prosecutor who digs deep to find the shocking truth behind the man’s murder.”

At first it was thought that Damon would make his directorial debut with tentatively titled Father Daughter Time, but it looks like The Foreigner is going to be his first.

We shouldn’t really worry about whether or not Damon can be a successful director. The guy has surrounded himself with really good company in the past and has no doubt picked up on a few things while watching Sant, Neill Blomkamp, the Coen Brothers, Cameron Crowe, Clint Eastwood, Paul Greengrass,Terry Gilliam, and Martin Scorsese do their work.
