Last month Sony announced the official release date for their next generation video game console, the PlayStation 4. Today Microsoft has revealed the official release date for their own next-gen console, the Xbox One.
The company has announced that the One will hit store shelves on November 22, 2013…just a week after the PS4’s November 15th release. This is pretty wild, and sets up the epic head-to-head battle we’ve all wanted to see.
To put this in perspective, the Xbox 360 was also released on November 22nd of 2005, but the PlayStation 3 didn’t get released until November of 2006. Many thought this played heavily into Sony losing the current generation console battle to Microsoft. With both new systems coming out within a week of each other, it’s going to be interesting seeing who jumps out of the gate faster, especially considering all of the negativity Microsoft has faced over the past months.
The Xbox One’s November 22nd launch is for the top 13 markets, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and USA, with releases in other locations coming sometime in 2014.
