Josh Brolin Confirms He Was In The Running To Play Batman; Defends Ben Affleck Casting
  |  @   |

Last month we found out about some actors who were on an early list of potentials that Warner Brothers was looking at to replace Christian Bale as the new Batman in the upcoming Superman vs. Batman sequel to Man of Steel and beyond, one of whom was Josh Brolin, the star of movies like No Country For Old Men, True Grit, Men in Black III, and the upcoming remake of Oldboy.

Now Brolin has confirmed in an interview that he was indeed being considered for the role. The actor was also shocked by the overwhelmingly negative response to Ben Affleck being cast in the role instead.

Continue reading to see what he had to say.

When asked about his being considered for the role of Batman, Brolin said:

“We did. I didn’t have conversations about it, but Zack, that was part of his idea. It just didn’t turn out. It’s OK. It is OK. You know, another scenario might have worked better, but I’m happy for Ben.”

And when asked about his thoughts on the reaction to Affleck being cast, he said:

“I’ve never seen such a global reaction in my life. I feel for him, truly. I would not want to be him right now. The reaction becomes so personal. It’s like, ‘Fuck this guy, I wish he was dead.’ And you’re like, ‘What? Dude, seriously? This guy is just working like you are. He’s doing the same thing you are. He’s trying to make the best choices he can.'”

But Brolin is rooting for Affleck to silence the critics, adding:

“…I just feel for anybody who gets lambasted at that level. I want him to kick ass and I want everyone to love it and kind of eat their words.”

Would you have been happier with Josh Brolin as Batman?
