‘Evil Dead’ Remake Director Fede Alvarez To Take On Video Game ‘Dante’s Inferno’
  |  @   |

When the Visceral Games and Electronic Arts video game Dante’s Inferno was released in 2010, it didn’t make much of a splash. Some people enjoyed it, especially for its look, while others didn’t enjoy it so much due to gameplay that was very similar to the God of War series. And everyone moved on.

Now the game may be getting dusted off or given some new chances by gamers, as a movie version is in the works. It’s being reported that Fede Alvarez, the short film director who made his feature debut with 2013’s Evil Dead and became one of the rare few to prove that remakes can in fact work when done properly, is in negotiations to take on the live-action adaptation.

Continue below for more and to see a trailer for the game.

The game is based on one section of Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, which was penned sometime in the 14th century and is split into three sections: Inferno (Hell), Purgatorio (Purgatory), and Paradiso (Paradise).

Alighieri is also the main protagonist of the game, re-imagined as a Templar knight who must brave the nine circles of Hell to try and save the soul of his love Beatrice from Lucifer himself.

As mentioned, the game is certainly impressive visually. If Alvarez is given the freedom to do it his way it could be quite the sight. It’s also something that will likely require a lot of CGI to make, so we can only wait and see.

Watching the trailer below, is this a movie you think has potential?
