Aaron Paul‘s time as Jesse Pinkman comes to a dramatic conclusion when Breaking Bad airs its series finale this Sunday. While there is very little chance of seeing the same character on the Breaking BadSaul Goodman spinoff, we’ll still get to see more of Paul as the actor is making the jump from the small screen to the big screen. The actor will star in next year’s big screen adaptation of Need For Speed, based on the popular video game of the same name.
Check out the first trailer after the jump.
In an age where Fast and Furious is practically dominating the cinematic world of street racing, Need For Speed looks like it’s stuck in neutral and will go no where fast. It just feels very generic and dull. A mechanic who seemingly had it all loses everything, including the love of his life, goes into the world of underground street racing looking for redemption.
Of course this is just the first trailer for a film that debuts spring of 2014, but still, the voiceover, the action, the lack of any sort of dialogue makes me feel that this film will just be about the stunts and nothing more. Then again, this is just the first trailer, so maybe I am just asking for too much.
But hey, everyone has to start somewhere, even if you are a two time Emmy winning star of a hit cable drama series, if you want to make that jump to film, something looks as awful as Need For Speed can be overlooked.
Need for Speed also stars Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Scott Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Michael Keaton, Rami Malek, and Dakota Johnson. Directed by Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) and written by Academy Award nominee John Gatins and George Nolfi, Need for Speed opens in theaters on March 14, 2014.
