Because, Awesome: ‘Carrie’ Viral Video Prank Scares The Hell Out Of Unsuspecting New Yorkers
  |  @   |

Unsuspecting patrons at a cafe in New York City got quite the scare recently after a young girl went all “Carrie” on them as she seemingly used telekinetic powers to hurl another patron, then move the chairs and tables, and knock the books off the shelves.

Here below, you can check out the video of the incident, which was a viral marketing staged prank for Sony’s upcoming horror remake Carrie.

The elaborate stunt, which took place at sNice Cafe in the West Village in New York City, was staged by Thinkmodo, the New York-based viral video marketing company that was also responsible for “Flying People” viral video for the film Chronicle.

The video begins with the crew setting up wires and harnesses, as well as spring-loading books and other props to create the illusion of telekinesis in action. It then goes on to show the prank in full several times, intercut with people’s reactions, which were pretty f’n awesome – they’re scared as hell, and who can blame them?! Even in NYC, this is far out.

By the way, sNice is actually a great place to go for delicious vegetarian and vegan food, and after watching this video, all I could think about is how I’d love to stop in at lunchtime tomorrow and get a sesame “chicken” wrap and a kitchen sink vegan cookie. But yeah, wonder what I would have done if I’d been there during this viral prank – likely run screaming.

Carrie, starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, hits theaters on October 18, 2013.
