As I write up more and more of these Kickstarter campaigns, I find myself amazed at the way the public has embraced this as a viable way to fund projects. So many more artists and creators are able to self-publish their work. I can’t help out as much as I would like to, but I do my share as I’m sure many of you do. Therefore, it’s my pleasure to be able to occasionally show one off in the hopes that you will find it as interesting as I do. Howie Noel‘s Kickstarter campaign for his webcomic character, Tara Normal has all the makings of a fun and entertaining read with more than just a twist of originality.
Centered around Tara Normal, the graphic novel that Howie wants to create with this campaign is going to focus on Tara solving the mystery of her mother’s death. Already an paranormal investigator who has proven that ghosts exist, she will explore how this all affects her world and the people in it. And part of this quest will involve the rescue of a group called the Ghost Soldiers who find themselves trapped in the most haunted place in the world, St. Catherine of Siena (an abandoned mental hospital), and only Tara can save them! Luckily, Tara is a pretty strong willed young lady who is used to kicking paranormal butt.
Another interesting facet of this project is that it’s a subject near and dear to the comic creator’s heart. Howie has spent years in the paranormal research field, so a lot of the gadgets will be accurately portrayed and will lend a bit of realism to the storyline.
And if that isn’t enough to hook you, there are a lot of rewards to snag depending on how much you feel like donating. Starting at the two dollar mark you can get a digital copy of the book, seldom will you see such an easy return on a couple of singles. A few bucks more and you can add stickers and buttons to the reward. Original artwork is available for only a few bones more than that! Plus, there are t-shirts, physical copies of the book, poster sized art, and much more. Heck, there are even a few folks that will get to be in the comic for their pledge reward. Some will be character cameos and some will be straight up villains, how cool is that?
I urge you to check this out, I have never seen so many rewards at such easily attained donation levels. It’s not going to cost you much to help out. As a matter of fact, in the time it took me to get this written up, the campaign has reached it’s goal, even hit a few stretch goals already! So it’s a guarantee that you’ll get some cool stuff for helping out a great Kickstarter!
