‘Iron Man’ Director Jon Favreau In Talks To Direct New Version Of ‘The Jungle Book’ For Disney

Walt Disney has a new adaptation of the 1894 Rudyard Kipling classic The Jungle Book on the way, and it appears that they’ve found a director for the project.
It’s being reported that Jon Favreau, director of movies like Elf, Zathura, Iron Man 1 & 2, and Cowboys & Aliens, has entered into negotiations for the job.
Of the news, Favreau said:
“I can’t say that much, but there is an interesting take that could be very cool and the hope is to relaunch a family brand with certain mythic elements. It is my first real family film since Elf, and there are action elements and visual effects that I feel like my experience on the Iron Man films are going to be useful.”
Disney has already adapted The Jungle Book in the past, once famously in the 1967 animated classic, of course, and then again in a 1994 live-action version from The Mummy director Stephen Sommers.
This latest live-action take on the story was announced this past July, along with Justin Marks being hired to work on the screenplay.
