Last month, the first promo image for Season 3 of Sherlock was released, which showed Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and John Watson (Martin Freeman) in front of their famous residence, 221B Baker Street.

Now, the first image from the season 3 filming of the series has been released and it features the famous duo reuniting…kinda. Check it out here below.

Fans of Sherlock know that at the end of the second season, Watson believes that Sherlock is dead, but seeing as there would be no show without the title detective, we all knew he’d be back. But the question is how did he survive the fall? And what will happen now when Sherlock returns to Baker Street after his friend has already grieved the loss of him and supposedly moved on? That’s part of what this upcoming season will deal with.

Sherlock returns to PBS Masterpiece for the third season in the U.S. on January 19, 2014 at 10pm. The show will air first in the UK on the BBC, though that start date hasn’t been announced yet. On December 15 in London, The British Film Institute will screen “The Empty Hearse,” season 3’s first episode, so there’s speculation that that will be the UK air date as well.
