In what would be considered one of the most exciting video game news bits of recent memory, a new rumor indicates that Telltale Games may be working on a Game of Thrones game.

Telltale is of course know for their work on one of the very best games of 2012, season one of their episodic point-and-click take on The Walking Dead. Currently they have season one of The Wolf Among Us, another episodic title based on Bill Willingham’s Fables.

When asked about the rumor, Telltale predictably stayed mostly hush-hush, saying:

Because it’s only a rumor there is no word yet on where this potential Game of Thrones game would take us, whether it would be stories we’re familiar with or, more likely, a prequel story. Perhaps earlier days in Westeros when Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon took on the Targaryens.

Other Telltale games based on other forms of entertainment have included Back to the Future and Jurassic Park. Season two of The Walking Dead is set to be released soon, as well.
