I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of November 27, 2013. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

It’s another busy week of books. In addition to the books I’m going to go into a bit more below, we’ve got new issues of Saga, Revival, Morning Glories, Pretty Deadly from Image, the last issue of Geoff Johns’ Aquaman run from DC, the last issue of Infinity from Marvel, and a special edition of Sandman: Overture #1. So, before getting your feast on, remember to be thankful for your friendly neighborhood comics retailer and pick up a ton of comics. That’s the meaning of the season here on The GoD List!

Black Science #1 (Image Comics – $3.50) If you’re like me, your first encounter with writer Rick Remender was through his work on Fear Agent, his sci-fi epic. Well, Remender is back in the sci-fi game with Black Science. Here’s the description of the series, which does a better job of telling you what’s going on than I can do:

Grant McKay, former member of The Anarchistic Order of Scientists, has finally done the impossible: He has deciphered Black Science and punched through the barriers of reality. But what lies beyond the veil is not epiphany, but chaos. Now Grant and his team are lost, living ghosts shipwrecked on an infinite ocean of alien worlds, barreling through the long-forgotten, ancient, and unimaginable dark realms. The only way is forward. The only question is how far are they willing to go, and how much can they endure, to get home again?

In the same way that Fear Agent introduced many people to both Rick Remender, and eventually to artist Jerome Opena, there are going to be a lot of eyes opened to the skill of artist Matteo Scalera. Scalera has been working on a variety of Marvel books for a few years, but he is set to make the jump to the next level. And with colors by Dean White, this is going to be one good looking book.

The MAXX: Maxximized #1 (IDW Publishing – $3.99) I may have mentioned that I started reading comics in the 90’s, and one of the series that made a big impact on me was Sam Kieth’s The Maxx. Keith was one of the first artists I found who had a style that stood out from the rest of the artists of the day, and The Maxx was possibly too weird for my mind back then. The Maxx: Maxximized is an all-new remastering of the series, featuring new colors over the original art pages. It’s a chance for an all new audience to discover Keith’s weird and wild tale of homeless superheroes and Aboriginal dreamscapes. If you’ve never read The Maxx before, or just want to experience it again, don’t pass this up.

BPRD: Vampire Trade Paperback (Dark Horse Comics – $19.99) Three words: Moon and Ba. BPRD: Vampire is the fourth volume in the series following the BPRD’s past encounters with a war against vampires (the previous volumes being BPRD: 1946, 1947, and 1949). Of course, for me the big draw is the writing and art of Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba. Their work is constantly amazing and unlike anyone else working today. I’m always excited to see new work from them, and since this isn’t the first time they’ve worked in the BPRD universe, they’re already well versed in the setting, mood, and characters needed to make this a proper BPRD story.

Sandman: Overture #1 – Special Edition (Vertigo Comics – $5.99) If you missed out last month on the highly anticipated Sandman: Overture #1, Neil Gaiman’s return to The Sandman universe, now’s your chance to get it in an even bigger way with this Special Edition. The 42-page Special Edition contains the entire first issues of this 6-issue miniseries, along with an interview with artist J.H. Williams, rare artwork, and more. This is a MUST-HAVE, MUST-READ item for sure!!!

The special edition is also available now for the Kindle.

Think Tank #11 (Top Cow – $3.99) This is one of the most well written and original comics currently in publication. Do yourself a favor. Buy it. Buy all the back issues. Enjoy. You’re welcome.
