Guitarist Lita Ford and singer Cherie Currie, have reunited for an original holiday single called “Rock This Christmas Down,” which is the first time the queens of noise have recorded together since 1977 when they were in the all-girl hard rock band The Runaways.
The new song will be available as an MP3 Download starting December 3, 2013, but USA Today is previewing the song right now!

If you know your Runaways history (and I certainly do), you know that these rocking ladies didn’t really get along all too well when they were touring the world as teenagers. Ford confirmed this to USA Today:
Ford says she and Currie weren’t particularly close during the Runaways years. “I was close with the other girls in the band, and Cherie was close with Joan (Jett),” she says. “We never really bonded.
“Now we’re both moms. We’ve both gone through years of trials and tribulations of rock ‘n’ roll. We’ve been married and divorced. We have a lot in common.”
I know I’m super-excited to get this single when it’s released and I’m enjoying the preview! It’s really awesome to see these two back together, and if you see their posts on their respective Facebook pages, you can see how close they’ve gotten recently. Now, if only they’d get all the surviving band members back together for a Runaways reunion!
