Anyone’s who’s been paying attention to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy knows that Vin Diesel was brought in for a role, and it eventually became quite apparent that he would be voicing the character Groot.

But after all this time, it’s finally being officially confirmed that Diesel is in fact voicing Groot, a tree-like being with only one line of dialogue.

Marvel’s official confirmation comes just after Diesel himself posted the image of he and Groot seen above.

Diesel’s character joins Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Drax (Dave Bautista) in the movie, which is directed by James Gunn (Slither, Super).

Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1, 2014.
