Last year (for a few more hours anyway), we shared with you a tech demo for a next-gen medieval RPG being developed by Warhorse Studios, a Czech company founded in 2011 by people who worked on both Mafia and Mafia 2 and other gamemakers.
The demo was shown when the game was in the early stages of development, and very little existed apart from some settings to look at at the time. It took a while, but Warhorse has finally made this game official, with the announcement of a title, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a release window, and the game’s first teaser trailer. You can find more info on the game and check out the trailer below.
Here’s what you can expect:
Rooted within the Holy Roman Empire during the late Middle Ages, Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises a first-person seat to a harsh and brutal power struggle for the throne. As players traverse expansive, strikingly detailed locales, they’ll grapple with a range of period-accurate fighting techniques, horseback combat, open-field sieges, and large-scale battles, all while developing relationships and a reputation that will inform the greater story. Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises no magic, high fantasy or mythical overtones – it draws its inspiration instead from historically authentic characters, themes, and warfare.
The game is set to be released on PC and unspecified next-gen consoles, but unfortunately the waiting is not yet finished. The game is not expected to release until sometime in 2015.
If thew teaser trailer below isn’t enough to please you, a search on YouTube reveals a little early gameplay action, and Warhorse even released a funny New Year’s gift to show off their sense of humor.
