‘The Lego Movie’ Sequel Already In The Works
  |  @   |

Studios announcing sequels even before the first film is released isn’t entirely uncommon. They do this based on all of the tracking and test screenings done before said film actually hit theaters. So when The Wrap confirmed that Warner Bros. would be developing a sequel for the upcoming The Lego Movie, it really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.

According to the report, the WB has hired screenplay writers Jared Stern (The Internship) and Michelle Morgan (Girl Most Likely) to pen a draft for the sequel.

The site doesn’t say whether Lego Movie writers and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are returning to helm a sequel. But seeing as how the two chose to produce instead of direct the sequel to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, it is likely that they would do the same for the sequel to The Lego Movie, considering all the time constraints and effort it took to develop the original. Plus, the two already have proven they are successful with live-action comedies like 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street. But as with all original films, before a sequel can actually head into production, it has to produce a significant amount for the studio to officially green light a sequel.

Featuring the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Morgan Freeman, Alison Brie, Liam Neeson, Will Ferrell, and many many more, The Lego Movie opens in theaters and in 3D on February 7, 2014.
