The Walking Dead Season 4 Mid-Season Premiere February 2014 Don't Look Back

Visit the home of any red-blooded American grandmother, and at some point, she’s likely to dig out and dust off one of her many cherished keepsakes to share with you: her photograph album. All but extinct in this day and age, photo albums were the previous generation’s way of recording images and preserving them for posterity “” most of them, of your parents when they were your age, but an odd number of them of you, naked in the bathtub when you were less than a year old. Old people are weird.

Since AMC’s The Walking Dead went on its mid-season break last year, and like hordes of hungry walkers, fans have been anxiously craving its return, and tonight, their patience (as if they had a choice) will be rewarded, as the remainder of the season returns with After, with its first new episode since November.

Before Dead Heads (and Chris Hardwick) raptly watch the events of tonight’s Season 4 episode unfold, many (myself included) have revisited some of the more jaw-dropping moments from the past seasons. Despite Rick’s admonition to Carl to not look back, before we look forward for the rest of Season 4, many of us have been looking back at some of the moments, or snapshots, to come out of the past three and a half seasons. Here are a few of our favorite snapshots from the series so far…

The “Snapshots” are presented in chronological order from the 2010 pilot episode. And obviously, spoilers for The Walking Dead Seasons 1 through 4.0.

The Walking Dead snapshot #1: Waking up from a coma to a word turned upside down, Sheriff Rick Grimes arms himself and rides into Atlanta to search for his wife and son, only to encounter a most unfriendly welcoming committee. ~ “Days Gone Bye” (first aired Oct. 31, 2010)

The Walking Dead, still 01

The Walking Dead snapshot #2: Rick dispatches an attacking walker with extreme prejudice when his and Glenn’s “camouflage” of human remains are washed off during a sudden rainstorm. ~ “Guts” (first aired Nov. 7, 2010)

The Walking Dead, still 02

The Walking Dead snapshot #3: Lori and Carol hide under an abandoned vehicle as a herd of walkers descends upon the group on the interstate. Although it seemed the group had gone undetected, at the last second, Carol’s daughter, Sophia is found and runs into the woods, setting into motion events which would lead the group to Hershel’s farm. ~ “What Lies Ahead” (first aired Oct. 16, 2011)

The Walking Dead, still 03

The Walking Dead snapshot #4: Otis and Shane flee from a growing horde of walkers at the high school while trying to retrieve medical supplies to save the mortally wounded Carl. Speaking of “mortally wounded,” Shane is promoted from douchebag to pure evil when he shoots Otis in the leg to leave (alive, by the way) as a distraction for the walkers while Shane makes his get-away. ~ “Save the Last One” (first aired Oct. 30, 2011)

The Walking Dead, still 04
