Man In ‘Breaking Bad’ Shirt Arrested For Meth Lab
  |  @   |

A 21-year-old man wearing a Los Pollos Hermanos shirt was arrested on Monday for allegedly running a meth lab out of his home in La Grange Highlands, a suburb of Chicago, according to the Cooks County Sheriff’s Office.

In case that shirt doesn’t ring a bell, Los Pollos Hermanos is the fictional fast-food chicken joint seen on Breaking Bad, the television series about Walter White, a teacher turned meth-maker and drug kingpin. On the show, the restaurant chain was a front for trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine, including eventually the “Blue Sky” variety created by Walter White, aka Heisenberg.

In a moment of life imitating art, Daniel Kowalski, who was arrested after police reportedly found methamphetamine manufacturing materials in his home such as glass beakers, burners, chemicals, and instructional materials for making controlled substances, can be seen in his arrest mugshot wearing a yellow Los Pollos Hermanos t-shirt.

That’s Kowalski’s mugshot here at right and you can clearly see the name of the restaurant and its logo on the shirt. You can read more about the circumstances surrounding Kowalski’s arrest and see photos taken at the scene over at the Cooks County Sheriff’s Office site, where at the end of their report they remind the public that “the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.” (I wonder if they end off all their arrest stories like that.)

While the police found that the lab was not active, they did recover 12 jars of psychedelic mushrooms. Everything I know about meth-making I learned from Breaking Bad and from the looks of these photos, there’s too much clutter, not enough ventilation, and the mushrooms probably weren’t the best idea. Heisenberg would not approve.
