If you haven’t already noticed, Seth Rogen is a very funny guy. With so many comedic roles, screenplays, and more under his belt, Rogen shows no signs of slowing down. But he took a moment to take a break from it all to bring a very serious matter to our attention: Alzheimer’s disease.

On Wednesday, the comedian spoke before the U.S. Senate about the horrifying disease, and how it has affected the people close to him, such as his mother-in-law who has the illness. Naturally, not everything was serious, as Rogen, known for his stoner roles, opened with a rather lighthearted joke: “Yes, I am aware that this has nothing to do with the legalization of marijuana.” He then went on to explain the reasons that brought him in front of the Senate in the first place, including that he’s a huge House of Cards fan.

While the Pineapple Express actor can’t help but inject humor into everything he does, he was serious about the importance for the need for more Alzheimer’s awareness, education, and research.

While we have seen Senate committees and other political get togethers parodied or mimicked many times before, it’s refreshing to see actors use their celebrity stardom to bring serious matters to the nation’s attention.

As it turns out, not all the Senators stayed to hear Rogen’s testimony, which prompted to actor to take to Twitter to publicly shame those who left.
