From Dusk Till Dawn TV Series

Fledgling cable channel El Rey Network is set to premiere the new 10-episode television series From Dusk Till Dawn next week. The series is the first entry into serialized television for Robert Rodriguez, who directed the original 1996 movie of the same name and which the show takes its premise from.

Just like the movie, the series will take place over the course of about a day and follow two bank robbing brothers, Seth and Richie, who make for the border with a family they’ve taken hostage. When they make a detour at a strip club, all hell breaks loose after they discover the club is inhabited by vampires. Since the twist of the original film is well-known, it will be interesting to see how the series draws out the plot while still keeping within the same time frame.

The series features Rodriguez, who co-executive produced, directing four of the ten episodes and includes a fun cast starring D.J. Cotrona, Zane Holtz, Don Johnson, Jesse Garcia, Robert Patrick, Madison Davenport, and Jake Busey among others.

While From Dusk Till Dawn will broadcast on the El Rey Network, which is currently carried by Comcast, DirecTV, and Time Warner Cable, the big news here is Netflix just announced the show will also be available for streaming just hours after each episode airs. The only catch here is that the show will only be available on Netflix in Canada, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and Latin America.

Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix notes:

“We’re thrilled to premiere From Dusk Till Dawn: A Netflix Original Series exclusively in our international markets. Robert Rodriguez is an amazing storyteller and we think our members will love his thrill-ride TV adaptation of the cult-classic.”

It is interesting to note that Neflix is adding the “Original Series” moniker to the series for the international markets. Meanwhile, Robert Rodriguez, who is Chairman and Founder of El Rey Network, added:

“I am excited about working with Netflix and Miramax to build an international audience for our series. This property has always resonated for viewers around the globe and we believe that it will be just as relevant for this new generation of fans.”

This is great news for international fans! If you’re in the United States and looking to gain access to the show, hopefully your cable package includes El Rey. However, if you’re in the US and don’t have access to the cable channel but do have a Netflix subscription, a little internet sleuthing should undercover options that will walk you through the steps to get access to international versions of Netflix.

If you haven’t already be sure to check out the trailer for From Dusk Till Dawn, which begins airing March 11th.
