Neil deGrasse Tyson’s ‘Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey’ Debuts Tonight! Here’s A Sneak Peek
  |  @   |

Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, premieres on FOX tonight, Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 9pm ET/PT. You can check out a sneak peek video of the episode here below, which includes interview clips from Tyson as well as executive producer Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy).

This first hour-long episode, titled “Standing Up in the Milky Way,” marks the launch of a new 13-part series and aims to reboot Carl Sagan’s original 1980’s series, Cosmos: A Personal Journey, for 21st century audiences.

Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey will be broadcast simultaneously on Sunday nights on 10 different U.S. Fox television networks, with FOX’s National Geographic Channel rebroadcasting the episodes on Monday nights at 10pm ET/PT, along with bonus content for each installment.

Tonight’s debut episode will be introduced by U.S. President Barack Obama; this first episode was screened at the White House on Febuary 28, 2014.

Check out a sneak peek of the series here below, and be sure to tune in tonight at 9pm or at least set your DVR (Cosmos is going up against AMC’s The Walking Dead, as well as the high-anticipated Season 1 finale of HBO’s True Detective tonight). We got a chance to screen “Standing Up in the Milky Way” in advance and we can tell you that this is going to be some must-see TV. Gather around all the family members, especially the children, and get ready to be highly entertained as you learn about the world we live in and beyond.

More than three decades after the debut of Carl Sagan’s groundbreaking and iconic series “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage,” it’s time once again to set sail for the stars. Hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, we set off on the Ship of the Imagination to discover our Cosmic Address and our coordinates in space and time. First, we meet Giordano Bruno in the Italy of the Renaissance, a wandering priest who had a spiritual epiphany of this much grander universe. Later, Tyson takes us on a walk across the Cosmic Calendar, where all of time is compressed into a football field-sized year at a glance calendar, with each month representing a little more than a billion years, in the all-new “Standing Up in the Milky Way” series premiere episode of COSMOS: A SPACETIME ODYSSEY airing Sunday, March 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
