Inspector Spacetime’s ‘Untitled Web Series’ Needs Your Help To Make ‘Inspector Chronicles’ Movie
  |  @   |

Whenever one talks about the Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time one must always remember the question is never “where?” but “when?” So when Travis Richey dropped an Indiegogo video call-to-action on his YouTube, you know what question fell from the tip of my tongue. And when I learned that season two of said series would, in fact, be an honest to geekness movie complete with two famous doctors from long-standing science fiction TV series my question shifted from “when?!” to “GTFO!”

For more info, some videos, and to find out the answer to my questions and the names of the famous cameo doctors, you must drop below the cut.

A Brief History of Space Time

The Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler that Can Also Travel Through Time was born from Dan Harmon’s much-loved and deeply geeky NBC series Community. In this show the character Abed, the group’s resident all-media-fiction Wikipedia on legs, fell in love with Community-verse’s long-standing British sci-fi series Inspector Spacetime. The lead in that show is called The Inspector. He has a red phone booth that is size appropriate and able to travel throughout all of space and time.

Back in the real world, Whovians (fans of Doctor Who) understand that Inspector Spacetime is a loving parody of the real British fantasy series Doctor Who. In this series The Doctor is a madman with a blue box that is bigger on the inside and can travel throughout all of time and space.

Now in Community The Inspector from Inspector Spacetime is played by Travis Richey (@TheTravisRichey). Richey is a working actor who also dabbles in his own projects on YouTube. Somewhere along the way Richey got the idea to make Inspector Spacetime a real Web series. Of course, The Suits at NBC balked at him using the name of their intellectual property. Surely this is their legal right to do so.

But legal speed bumps did not stop Richey and company from filming the first season of the web series as planned. They can’t legally call the series Inspector Spacetime. Thus The Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler that Can also Travel Through Time was born. All the props, scripts, costumes, etc. are theirs but the original name remains NBC’s.

The Inspector Chronicles: The Movie!

Still with me? Good.

The first season of the heretofore named Untitled Web Series went great. It was funny in all the right places and fairly successful. So a second season was obviously in the works. As I mentioned before, when this article was still young, the second season of Untitled Web Series has transformed into a full length movie! And the celebrity guests in this movie are none other than Star Trek: Voyager‘s The Doctor, Robert Picardo and Doctor Who‘s 7th Doctor, Sylvester McCoy! They’ve also announced Mayiam Bialik (The Big Bang Theory) as the voice of The B.O.O.T.H. and Chase Masterson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) to play Annabelle Wagner.

My has this little web series *grown*.

The movie has adopted a new title: The Inspector Chronicles: Untitled Motion Picture About A Space Traveler Who also Travels Through Time. The new burdens of being a movie brings with it a slightly higher budget. Thus The Inspector Chronicles has an Indiegogo. Prospective donors can earn anything from a script to a hand-made optic pocketknife to an appearance in the comic to a producer credit and cameo in the movie. Visit the link just below to visit the Indiegogo site to learn more about the perks. I’ll let “The Inspector” Travis Richey, “Boyish the Extraordinary” Eria Loya, and director Nicholas Acosta explain a few more of the specifics in the announcement video (also below).
