Briefly: This morning, Walt Disney Company chairman and CEO Bob Iger made an announcement that every Pixar fan has been waiting for. It has been almost 10 years since the release of The Incredibles, and after hearing that the Pixar team was just waiting for the right story, it has been confirmed that The Incredibles 2 finally on the way. He added that original director Brad Bird would return for the sequel.
Iger made the announcement this morning at a Disney Investor meeting, and also announced that there will be another Cars movie on the way.
With The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out hitting theaters in 2015, Finding Dory opening in 2016, and the untitled Dia De Los Meurtos movie yet to be scheduled and possibly looking at a 2017 release, that means the earliest we could see The Incredibles 2 or Cars 3 is in 2017/2018.
My guess is that Cars 3 will come out before The Incredible 2 since it is one of the more lucrative franchises in the Pixar library. A later release will also give Bird the time to polish the story.
But it is finally great to hear some real news for The Incredibles 2. So what do you guys think about the news on the sequel and Brad Bird‘s return to direct?
