Lately I find myself writing up a lot of Kickstarter Spotlights, mostly comic-related. This one is a bit different in that it’s about comic book creation and not the publication of an individual comic. Specifically, it’s about coloring comics digitally. I’m sure most of us have some version of Photoshop and we use it for a wide range of things. While I might use it to place a likeness of my ex-wife’s face on a horse’s rear, you might create awesome art projects for school or work. To each his own, I always say.
But maybe you have an itch to get into the comic book biz and your focus is coloring the artwork. Well, friends, this is the book for you. How do you get this awesome manual, you ask? Well, all you have to do is fund Hi-Fi Color for Comics!
Since this crowdfunding extravaganza is fully funded already, all you have to do is pledge at certain levels to receive a variety of rewards. For instance, if you want a digital copy of the book, all you have to shell out is twenty dollars. Add five bucks to that and you upgrade to the print copy. Or maybe you want one of each…well, that will set you back forty smackers. There are a lot of other perks, too! Fifty dollars gets you a signed print copy plus Brian Miller and the gang will even review your artwork with another review of it a month later to look for improvements! The more you donate, the more you get. There’s even a level where they will visit your school, convention, or comic shop to give a tutorial, lecture, what have you. Like I said, there’s a lot of goodies here for the taking. Just pick a reward level and pledge, like I did!
I have reviewed some of the work Brian Miller has turned out and he’s really good at what he does, just in case anyone out there is hedging. I hope you take the time to check this out if it seems like it might appeal to you. I know it’s not for everyone, but this is an inexpensive way to see how professionals do their job using today’s technology. The direct link to the Kickstarter for Hi-Fi Color For Comics is here.
