Jonathan Liebesman‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot may be getting pushed back, even though Paramount just released the film’s first full-length trailer a couple days ago.
According to a source connected with production, the film is being pushed back in order to complete necessary reshoots. The source claims that roughly one-third of the film is being completely reshot and that producer Michael Bay is personally overseeing work on the film – which has taken away valuable time from his work on Transformers: Age of Extinction post-production.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was slated for an August release, but according to our source, the studio is now aiming for a November/December release and will most likely open during the holiday season.
No word if Liebesman, who directed Battle: Los Angeles and Wrath of the Titans, is returning for reshoots, but it seems like this entire production – from concept to script to shooting – has been plagued with issues.
UPDATE: Paramount Pictures has confirmed that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will not move from its August 8, 2014 release date. Michael Bay also announced on Twitter that the film would not be delayed:
@RomeroMovieNews @TMNTMovie Not true.

No need for reshoots. BURN IT ALL!!!!

Can’t be too hard to improve something that’s absolute crap!

They’ve released enough images and the trailer, more than enough to tell that it’s crap.

Hi Dork, Derek, and ‘some guy.’ I just want to be clear here, we did not make up this story. The information existed, and we chose to publish it. We’ve spoken with Paramount in the time since and have updated the story to reflect that. Thanks!
Reply
I hope it is true. If it is, that means less competition for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and more chance of GOTG being able to make a billion dollars or more worldwide.
Reply
Bull. You’re the only site reporting it. They wouldn’t release a trailer, announce a date, release official pictures, only to turn around and delay it again because of a vocal minority of whiny fanboys.
Reply
I think it is fake too but they did release trailers for G.I. Joe Retaliation and then used the excuse of adding 3D to film more scenes with upcoming star Channing Tatum and delay it at least 3 months.
Reply
They did, but that is such a rarity. These things are typically hashed out loooooong before media starts. This story is BS, bogus, a sham, etc. Congratulations, though. You’re getting those website hits you wanted, Geeks of Doom.
Reply
It’s a real story, with a real source.
Reply
Which is exactly why Michael Bay debunked it on his own Twitter page. Uh-derp. Bye now.
Reply
Care to change your ridiculous rant now that EVERYONE is confirming the reshoots? No? Didn’t think so. Bye forever.
Reply
Is it delayed, which was the main focus of my “rant”? No. Never said anything about re-shoots. Idiot.
Reply
But it is delayed, which you said it wasn’t. And reboots are, in fact, the confirmed cause. So you’re the idiot. And didn’t I tell you good bye forever? Learn to listen.
Reply
Oh no. See, you are not my master. I don’t do what you say. Learn that right quick, son. And if your stupid ass would look up, even this very article states that the movie is not being pushed back from its release date. August 8th. Still the date. Re-shoots or not. Dumb f*ck. Oh, and while we’re at it, learn the difference between reboots and reshoots.
Reshoots do not equal delays. I don’t know why your stupid brain computes that as being so, but EVERY movie does reshoots, and it does nothing to delay movies.
Reply
Listen child, when we swear we only make ourself look foolish. Try to make your point with evidence, not insults. Your master has spoken.

You are literally too stupid to continue wasting time on. If you are so lazy that you can’t simply scroll up to the update directly above you here, on this very page, then I don’t know what other “evidence” you are looking for. And actually, there are more benefits to cursing according to Association of Psychological Science’s book ‘Perspectives on Psychological Science’–especially when dealing with complete morons who dip into the old “if you’re cursing, you’re stupid” well. Get a new shtick, you worthless troll.
I’m smarter than you. You need to deal with it. Privately. And you know I’m right, which is why you are deviating from the actual subject. Bye now, stupid little boy.

I think you need to calm down Rick.

You remembered my old handle! I’m flattered! Well you are right about one thing, and only one, it’s time to let this go. I find you boring and repetitive. So this will be my last post. However, the internet is sadly full of trolls such as yourself and knowing your kind as I do I’m certain you will need to end this discussion with one last, certainly profanity laced, parting shot. As I said earlier, good bye forever.

EDITED: I proved my point…
Again, you can deviate from the point all you want, you’re wrong, and you know it. If you wanted to have a little “battle of wits”, you lost, son. Now move on…”forever”.

Woah man, this stupid argument aside posting my personal information is way out of line. I got your name from your twitter account which is linked to your Disqus profile. I didn’t post your last name or your location. I’m not sure how you got that information but it’s creepy and it crosses a line. How did you find all that? If it really means that much to you, you win.

Again, I reciprocated the favor. It took me two seconds to go to YOUR Twitter page, look at a few pictures, and put all that information together. Creepy? Yeah. That was the point. You went to MY Twitter page looking to do the same thing, and I don’t appreciate it.
If you’re going to be a troll, and don’t want all of that information available, then don’t leave a freaking trail that leads straight to you. Or better yet, stop trying to incite sh*t.
Now, I’m a nice guy, but I needed to prove a point. Now that I got your attention, your info is gone. Clean up your Twitter, and clean up your act. Dig?

You really got all that from my twitter page that quickly? That freaks me out. I need to protect that shit apparently rather leave it public. Sorry again about being a troll.

I don’t know if your comments are going to pass moderation, so I’ll just comment here to make sure you see them. No worries, man. And yes, as scary as it is, I really got all of that off of your Twitter page. Protect you and yours. If I was some freak psychopath, I just got all of your information, INCLUDING your wife’s name (which I wasn’t going to post).
Regardless, no hard feelings. Hey, we’re comic nerd brethren. We shouldn’t be fighting, anyway.
Reply
Wow, I never realized how much information was simply sitting in my “followers” tab (which I’m guessing is where you found all that.) Jesus, my wife’s name too. That is really creepy. I just updated my profile so it’s private from now on. I guess that silver lining out of this stupid argument is a lesson learned. Anyway, good point, we comic geeks shouldn’t squabble amongst ourselves.

Rock on, man. And if it makes you feel any better, I had to learn the same lesson the hard way myself a few years ago.

Oh totally. The Raw after WM is always one of the best shows of the year.

Answer the question. How did you find all that? I’ll admit it, I was just being an ass. When I posted my second comment to you I had missed the update at the bottom of the article and when you pointed it out I was embarrassed so I started acting trolly. Dick move I admit. But answer the question.

What I love is the fact that you think you got one up on me. You’re a putz.

“dork” what you just said is simply not true, did you see Retaliation? The movie was really delayed for 3D conversion and there was not one day of extra filming done with Channing Tatum.
Reply
I didn’t say the film was completely redone and made him the star. They changed scenes to make people have more of a quick connection and “bond” with him.
Reply
Again, not true. There were no reshoots. There were no scenes added. The film was delayed solely for 3d conversion, not editing of any sort.
Reply
They swapped a bar scene for the video game scene.
Reply
Not true. The bar scene did not test well and was swapped with the video game scene in test screenings prior to the release delay for 3d conversion. Again, contrary to your statement not one second of additional footage was shot for Retaliation between the time the film was delayed and eventually released.

uh huh, sure

They did just that for GI Joe Retaliation they released a trailer a release date and just 3 weeks before the movie was supposed to be released just 3 weeks! they pulled it. At first they said it was to add 3D but with a 9 month delay it does not take that long for 3D to be added then it became known that it was for re-shoots to add more Channing Tatum because his star suddenly became on the rise so yes they do these type of things this late in the game however whether or not this is true remains to be seen. Seems stupid to be reporting it if it isn’t true because then these guys look like the assholes.
Reply
Again, yes…it has happened. But it’s incredibly rare, and somewhat unheard of. Name other examples of this. You won’t make it past one hand, if even get close. And yes, it IS incredibly stupid to report on this. Even as an April Fool’s joke. Because it’s simply not true.
Reply
Re-shoots don’t mean delays, “thefraze”. You’ve proven nothing.
Reply
Actually it’s not “incredibly rare” and certainly not “somewhat unheard of.” Saying that just proves you know little or nothing about Hollywood. Movies that have had large reshoots include: World War Z, I Am Legend, 47 Ronin, G.I. Joe Retaliation, Oz, Hansel and Gretel, The Bourne Identity, X-Men: Days of Future Past. Those are just films I know of off the top of my head. It is fairly common for big blockbusters to have two or more weeks of reshoots. Read an article every now and then. You might learn something.
Reply
I’M NOT TALKING ABOUT RESHOOTS, YOU JACKASS.
Delays after media! Get it through your idiotic thick skull.
Reply
Okay, take the reshoots out and the story is still true. It is delayed. And Geeks of Doom reported that reshoots were the cause of that delay. Which has been confirmed. So whether you were talking about reshoots or not, you were still wrong and made yourself look like and uninformed idiot. Which you are only continuing to do now.
Reply
Are you f*cking dense? Do you have a learning disability? I said that there would be no delay. THIS ARTICLE EVEN STATES THAT THEY WERE WRONG. THERE IS NO DELAY. Re-shoots do not mean the movie’s release date is getting pushed back. Take your stupid ass up to the top and read it all, THEN come back to me with something, you stupid pr*ck.
Reply
Then it became known where? That Retaliation was delayed for more Tatum shooting is a complete rumor which has been proven false. That was just something a bunch of unknowledgable fanboys came up with, not reality.
Reply
No it became known by Channing Tatum, his wife, the director, and the producer all said so, where were you?
Reply
Rachael NO it did not, what you just said is a lie (whether you know it is a lie or are just ignorant of the truth I do not know.)
Channing Tatum , Jon Chu, Paramount, the Rock, the producers and everyone else involved with the production of GIJOE Retaliation has said repeatedly that there was NOT ONE day of reshoots. The film was delayed for 3d conversion. That is it. There was nothing else done to the film. There were no reshoots. There were no added scenes. Channing Tatum’s screen time was not upped.
You are regurgitating fanboy rumors as facts when they are simply not true in any way,
Reply
Kevin is right, Rachael. It was mostly for 3D conversion. Back in Feb 2012, the Obama administration negotiated with China to increase foreign movie quota to 14 additional movies if they are in 3D or IMAX. Paramount applied for those quota for 2013 and received it for GI JOE 2 so it needs to be converted into to 3D. Keep in mind that Paramount already spent a bum for the Superbowl trailer early in 2012 only to push it back by 9 months just one month prior to the original June 29 2012 release date.
Was it worth it? Well, they made $53,840,000 in China so with the 25% cut to the studio, it paid for the 3D conversion, and Paramount made more with 3D showings state-side and other countries… so I suppose, yeah.
Reply
I saw the interview with Channing Tatum myself on Entertainment Tonight PLUS the Rock on his facebook even showed pictures of him back on set doing what he called reshoots. Yes they converted it to 3D as well but that takes 3 months tops why else a 9 month layover? It doesn’t matter anyways as the turtles being delayed is just a rumor which Bay himself denied and said they are just shooting pick ups which is common.
Reply
3D conversion doesn’t take 9 months but Paramount is not going to release a big-budget movie like GI JOE 2 in lousy slot like September. They have to schedule for the next available slot with minimal competition, which just happens to be March 28 the following year. China release is April 15, a few weeks after, so they can apply for foreign quota in year 2014.
The extend of the reshoots is not clear but apparently somebody in the production freaked out that Paramount is mulling to push the release date back. It could have happened, but it didn’t. False alarm. For now.
Reply
and March was a better release slot? It is pointless to argue this as you are obviously going to hold on to your theory and I am going to hold on to mine. But as you said the point is that the turtles production delay is false. Geeks of Doom are now saying that they talked to paramount Pictures directly and they deny the prodcution delay, why they didn’t do that BEFORE reporting that there was a delay is beyond me.
Reply
When you are given 9 more months, you have some breathing room for reshoots. I’m not going to argue with you on that, but I can’t imagine Paramount pushing back a release date of a big budget movie just for Channing Tatum. They can get by with just the Rock, Bruce Willis and Snake Eyes. xP
I suppose Geeks of Doom should have asked Paramount for comment first but on the other hand, they did say the reboot “may be getting pushed back” not “will be pushed back”. Anything that does not come from the studio should be taken with a grain of salt and pepper.
Reply
And yet the reshoots are actually happening.
Reply
Yeah, I think this is just a rumor too. Why would they release a trailer that came out only a few days ago that says it comes out in august, and then a few days later, they say that the release date is pushed back again. They wouldn’t do that. Anyways, really exited for this movie. I’m a big fan of the turtles and grew up with them at a young age. I liked the teaser that came out a few days ago, but I feel like they didn’t show enough. There’s still so much of this movie that we haven’t seen yet. Like many fans, I’m concerned as to what this new movie will intel, but very excited too. I think we all need to keep an open mind and hope for the best!
Reply
Yeah. While the deliberate creation of the Turtles is implied by the trailer, it’s not specifically stated. For all we know the scientist could have been talking about something and the Turtles might still be an accident.

Again, no. Bay didn’t say it was ‘fake.’ He said it was ‘not true.’ There’s a substantial difference, as this isn’t a ‘made up,’ rumor.

Yes yes it is a fake. It is a made up rumor some one made it up it was then posted and has now been confrimed a not true. Dave 3 proves that much

Paramount sets the release date not Michael Bay. Until the studio commits to a new release date to the public, he will categorically deny any changes in the release date. Paramount may be seriously considering the Nov/Dec date but it is not a final decision.
