Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ Gets A New Teaser Poster And Description For Upcoming Trailer
  |

The mystery surrounding Christopher Nolan‘s space exploration epic Interstellar is gradually dissipating as the marketing campaign for the Paramount-Warner Bros. co-production roars back into the public discourse this week with the release of a new teaser poster and news of a brand new theatrical trailer set to play before one of this summer’s biggest releases.

You can check out the poster here below.

The poster conveys a sense of quiet awe and visual majesty that will hopefully be in abundance in the final film within a single beautiful image. The tagline (“Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here.”) speaks volumes about the rumored plot of Interstellar involving an expedition through a wormhole to ensure the future of the human race by finding a suitable environment to grow crops, which is about all that is known of the story at this time.

The new trailer is expected to feature more footage from the actual film (as opposed to the teaser trailer released back in December) and will focus on the main character played by recent Oscar honoree Matthew McConaughey.

According to the Washington Post, audiences at a screening yesterday for Hubble 3D at the Smithsonian’s Air & Space Museum’s Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater were treated to the world premiere of the latest Interstellar trailer. Here’s a description:

The trailer unspooled to show Matthew McConaughey driving his truck through corn fields while a lush orchestral score swelled in the background. Later, the fields had caught fire, an ominous dust cloud could be seen looming over a baseball game, and McConaughey (playing a character named Cooper) was reassuring his daughter that he loved her “” right before being shot into space in order to save the world.

The trailer will be attached to the upcoming Godzilla when it is released theatrically on May 16, 2014. Until then it will be playing exclusively at the Air & Space Museum.

Interstellar – which the director also co-wrote with his brother Jonathan Nolan using a treatment originally written by theoretical physicist Kip Thorne for Steven Spielberg in 2006 – co-stars Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Matt Damon, Bill Irwin, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn, and Michael Caine, and opens on November 7, 2014.
