Because YOU demanded it, Choas #1 is finally here!! Now, I have to warn you, usually the horror genre is NOT my bag. I’m more of a super-hero, licensed-comics guy. But, I though I’d try something different for a change. Was I glad that I did or was it a huge mistake? Let’s take a look…

Writer Tim Seeley finds a great way to bring ALL of the characters from the Chaos universe together in a way that makes sense and it’s pretty darn entertaining. Keep in mind that I knew very little about these characters going in, but Seeley does a great job introducing everyone and showing you what they’re about early on in the book. What I loved most about it, is that it had a great “Monster Squad” vibe to it. It was serious at times, but for the most part it was just FUN, and that’s something that I never expected from this book at all. The gore is there, but it’s never really over the top. All in all, Seeley has written a very fun, entertaining horror comic.

I’m embarrassed to say that I’m not familiar with artist Mirka Andolfo, but after reading this book, I can honestly say she’s one of the best artists that I’ve never heard of. The detail and tone that she puts into the book is perfect for the script, and she has a great understanding and unique way of laying out a page. While there are some very nicely drawn woman in this book, it’s not your typical “hot girl” book. Andolfo has a great ability to draw monsters, humans, and creatures of all sort. Everything looks great and even if the book had a weaker script, her art would’ve made it stronger. As it is, Andolfo takes the book up a notch. I’m looking forward to following her career.

While I can’t recommend this book for ALL ages, if you’re over 17 and have the slightest interest in horror comics, you need to pick this book up. It’s very entertaining and I’m willing to bet that you’re going to love it!
