The Lone Ranger #24 proves why this comic book series is the BEST western book out there, bar none. If you’re interested in the character of the Lone Ranger or have a fondness for the western genre at all, you need to pick this book up.

Twenty-four issues in and Ande Parks proves that he’s still got it. In fact, he’s always had it, and never lost it. This issue is almost like Die Hard on a train, except better (sorry Under Siege 2). It’s filled with action and suspense and there’s a mystery going on that is partly revealed, and most of all, it’s what a Lone Ranger comic should be.

The Ranger and Tonto are working together to stop some outlaws. I love that Parks makes the Ranger SO SMART in this issue. He’s not just a ride in, guns-blazing hero — he actually takes time to stop and analyze the situation, come up with a plan for himself and Tonto, and then perfectly executes it. This is like the past twenty-three issues, very well written.

Artist Esteve Polls hits another home run with this issue. There is so much detail in his work, it’s simply amazing. Just looking at all the sequences on the train, ALL the details are there, and they’re all pretty much perfect. Plus, not to mention the “hardware” of the times, like guns, clothes, hats, EVERYTHING! He’s never missed a beat on this book and he never will. Another stunning issue.

You know what? I’m done trying to convince you to pick this book up. This is a top quality book that is always on the top of my “must read” pile.
