In news that can be filed away in the depressing but not even a little bit surprising file, it’s been announced that Tom Clancy’s The Division has been delayed until sometime in 2015 by Ubisoft.
Not only was the game one of the highlights of the E3 2013 convention, it may have been the best looking and most promising of all the games shown. Because of this, it seemed very unlikely that the open-world third-person shooter MMORPG would be completed by its expected 2014 release window. The game simply looked too too realistic—even for next-gen consoles—and thus, too good to be true.

The announcement was made on the game’s site, which said:
Today we announced that Tom Clancy’s The Division will be available in 2015 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Working on The Division is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us at Massive, Reflections, and Red Storm Entertainment. We are creating something we are really proud of and we don’t want to compromise on quality. We are going to release the game when it’s ready.
We want to thank you again for the exceptional ongoing support. Community is at the heart of what we are doing and we’re very much designing the game with you in mind, so your involvement means a lot to us.
The production is getting stronger every day and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to at this year’s E3. :)

The last we had seen of The Division was in a demonstration of the engine being used to make it, the Snowdrop Engine. Thankfully, despite the delay, new footage of the game will be shown off next month at this year’s E3, so stay tuned for that.
We can only hope that, when it’s all said and done, the game still looks as incredible as it did that first time we saw it, and that some of the realism didn’t have to be sacrificed to make it functional on the new consoles.
