‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Sets Up Epic ‘Justice League’ Film
  |  @   |

Kevin Smith is probably the closest person to the production of the now officially titled Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, without actually being involved in it, thanks in part to his friendship with Ben Affleck. He was one of the few who got to see the new Batsuit before Zack Snyder tweeted it out to the public a few weeks ago. In fact he was the first to confirm that the suit was black and grey, which is a nod to the Batsuit that we saw in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.

But even though he dropped that tidbit a few months back, Smith is dropping even more info about the film’s universe. He hints that Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice actually sets up not one, not two, not three or four, but a five or maybe six-part Justice League film. Hit the jump to read what he said.

Revealing the big news on his Hollywood Babble-On Podcast, Smith voiced his opinion on the title, and while he may not like it like the majority of the public, he actually understands how it was selected.

“They’re obviously beginning something, and there’s a stretch of these flicks. This is the beginning of the Justice League, as we all suspected as they were announcing that cast. We were like, “˜This is the beginning of a Justice League movie.’ From what I understand now, it’s no longer like, “˜This is Superman 2.’ They’re not doing these things. They’re doing like, “˜Here’s Man of Steel. Here’s Batman/Superman: Dawn of Justice.’ The next one is not like a sequel to one of the characters. They’re just going to keep building their universe for about five or six movies. But all of them”¦it’s supposed to tell one massive story, which is all Justice League oriented.”

From what Smith has said, it looks like Warner Brothers is taking a different approach to building their universe. Unlike Marvel Studios who have built their universe with solo films leading up to a large superhero ensemble, after Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, WB will instead dive in head first by developing Justice League first, then head into the smaller solo films like Wonder Woman and maybe even a solo Batman film or a solo film for any other member of the Justice League.

What do you guys think of WB’s plan to work differently from Marvel Studios? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. I hope this isn’t like amazing spiderman 2, basically one big long expensive prologue. Are you wasting time until justice league or do you have an actual story to tell? I hope it’s the latter.
